The Central Office of Information (COI) has appointed Simon Marquis as non-executive board director.

Marquis will join COI’s supervisory board with immediate effect, replacing Marilyn Baxter who recently announced her retirement after seven years in post.

He has over 30 years experience in the industry, including positions with C Squared Communications and St Ives as well as being chairman of ZenithOptimedia UK.

Marquis’ role at COI will involve assessing the impact of business decisions, making a creative contribution and bringing an independent view to the table, according to the office.

Mark Lund, COI’s chief executive, said: “I’m delighted that Simon is joining us. His experience of all sides of communications, particularly of the evolving channel world, is unparalleled and he has great insight and gravitas.”

Marquis added: “There can hardly be a more interesting and challenging time to be involved with COI than now. I have the greatest respect for the organisation and its people and feel very honoured to have been asked to join its supervisory board.”
