Sky has announced that it will be launching its first WiFi-enabled Sky+HD boxes, connecting home WiFi networks to give access to on-demand services and the Sky Store.

For Sky customers that are not yet subscribed to its on-demand services, the broadcaster is offering free connectors that will allow them to connect their set-top box to their WiFi network.

Sky also announced that customers with on-demand will receive up to 20 new channels on catch-up TV over the next year.

“Record levels of On Demand viewing show that Sky customers love the flexibility the service offers,” said Sky director Luke Bradley-Jones.

“When people connect their Sky+HD box to broadband they get instant access to the UK’s biggest Catch Up TV service and an extensive On Demand library of TV Box Sets and exclusive movies – and we’re seeing a growing demand.”

Earlier this month, Sky announced the launch of another new box that turns traditional televisions into internet-connected smart TVs, giving users free access to apps including BBC iPlayer, Demand 5 and Sky News.

Sky’s newest product is set to be available from this September.
