Sky Losing To Other Channels And ITV
The Sky multichannel package is losing out to fierce competition from other satellite channels and terrestrial channels, Marcus Plantin, director of the ITV Network Centre said yesterday. Dish sales were down and there had been a drop in viewing of Sky television. “Sky has been losing to minority satellite channels”, he said.
David Elstein, director of programmes at Sky said that some decline in the Sky channels’ share of viewing was inevitable with the arrival of six new satellite channels. The summer drop had been caused by top sporting events which Sky could not cover, such as the World Cup.
