Sky News Launches 24-Hour Video Streaming Service
Sky News has launched a streaming video service, allowing readers to catch live news bulletins 24 hours a day through its website, sky.com/news. The move is a further extension of the group’s news activity as competition between multi-channel news providers increases (see Feature: How Much More News Can We Take?).
Sky News is now available across multiple platforms including linear and interactive television, via audio to radio listeners and via mobile phones. Earlier this year the group launched an interactive TV news service, allowing digital satellite viewers to call up on demand additional video coverage, graphics and text of news, sports, weather, finance and showbusiness reports (see Launches Brief).
Director of new media at Sky, John Swingewood, said: “Sky is delivering on its promise to make its compelling content accessible to consumers whether they’re at home or on the move. We’re determined to maintain Sky News’ position as the market leader in 24-hour news across all platforms and all devices.”
