Sky Prepares For Launch Of Automotive Industry Channel

BSkyB is to launch Europe’s first television channel devoted to the automotive industry. The Automotive Channel, which launches on the 28 September, will broadcast news, analysis, market information and training programmes on the Sky digital platform.
The full schedule will begin on 9 October with programming going out between 8.30am and 1.30pm each weekday. The channel has received endorsements from industry bodies including the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, the Retail Motor Industry Federation and the National Franchised Dealers Association.
BSkyB’s commercial marketing director, Iain Holden said, “We have spent the past two years developing and researching the channel to ensure that it meets the needs of such a fast-moving industry.”
The target audience is manufacturers, dealers, independent motor traders, component suppliers, service organisations and trade associations. The channel will be subscription based.
A website www.automotivechannel.com is also under development. When complete, it will allow the viewer to interact with programmes and obtain programme and training notes.
