Sky Relaunches Customer Magazine

Sky is to re-launch its monthly magazine for Sky digital customers, re-naming the title Sky The Magazine.
The re-vamped title, which is published by John Brown Citrus, will launch at the end of this month. The magazine aims to compete with newsstand titles and will contain more features and editorial. It will also feature comprehensive television listings in the What To Watch section.
Deputy editor, Karen Buchanan, commented: “Sky’s magazine needs to compete more effectively with the rival media choices offered by the consumer press. We may have one of the largest readership figures in the UK and Ireland but the same rules apply: we need to update the magazine to encourage Sky customers to read it, so we have upped the feature content of the magazine.
According to ABC figures for the period of January to June 2002, Sky’s customer magazine saw its circulation increase by 12.7% year on year to 5,347,370, up from 4,745,063 in the same period the previous year. According to Sky, this is the highest circulation figure of any title in the UK or Ireland.
Ian Shepherd, BSkyB’s customer marketing director, said: “The magazine will continue to provide an important channel of communication to our customers but we believe that this new format and content will also add value to the Sky digital viewing experience.”
