Sky Sports app update now allows split-screen viewing

A new update available on the Sky Sports app allows Formula 1 fans to gain greater control of their viewing experience by offering a split-screen feed. The update, which is now available, allows viewers to complement the main TV screen with a further two screens on the app, featuring various camera angles including a view of the interior of driver’s cockpit.

David Gibbs, Director of Sky Sports Digital Media said “the Sky Sports for iPad app – which has already received more than half a million downloads – is yet another example of how Sky Sports continues to innovate to bring an even richer viewing experience to customers.”

The latest features come just in time for the F1 Santander British Grand Prix taking place at Silverstone this weekend and opens up possibilities for augmenting the traditional TV viewing experience.

“The update to the Formula 1 companion experience will allow customers to get even more out of our Formula 1 coverage through innovative split-screen technology, which we also plan to introduce as part of our companion app experience for other sports including football and golf later this year.”
