Sky TV is likely to launch its own travel channel, after failing to buy a stake in existing UK cable service The Travel Channel. The new Sky Channel is expected to launch in the autumn as part of a new package of services on the new satellite, Astra 1d. This is expected to include the Sci- Fi Channel.
Sky refused to comment on the service, but has been advertising for editorial staff for travel programming ‘in anticipation of the launch of new channels later this year’.
