Sky TV Guide – First Issue Review

Sky TV Guide – First Issue Review

The Sky TV Guide launches this week; it has a circulation of 2,700,000, being mailed to all Sky subscribers.

The glossy monthly has 148 pages, of which 27 are given to ads, although 14 of these are house ads for Sky channels such as Bravo, Nickelodeon and Discovery. This is an ad:ed ratio of 18:82. Big name advertisers include Woolworths Flora, and WH Smith.

Editorially the bulk of the magazine is devoted to satellite listings. The September issue covers the entire Sky and Sky Multi-Channels package listings for the month, with each day getting two pages of information. There are also previews of films and programmes to be shown this month, as well as several articles on popular programmes, and interviews with actors such as Clint Eastwood and Cheryl Ladd. There is also a preview of the month’s sport and coverage.

The magazine has a busy, downmarket feel to it overall, with no real article or feature of length.
