Sky is set to unveil a new EPG channel line-up on 1 February in a bid to put certain channels in more prominent locations, making them “even easier to find”.

The changes will see 40 channels in Sky’s HD pack swap positions in the EPG with their standard definition counterparts (for customers with a Sky+ HD subscription only).

MTV, Comedy Central, Universal, Syfy and FX will also move to “new, higher profile channel slots”.

In addition, Sky will launch its new channel Sky Atlantic, which features a number of shows from HBO including Mad Men, Boardwalk Empire and The Wire.

Sky Atlantic and the newly rebranded Sky Living will join Sky 1 to complete a trio of entertainment channels in slots 106, 107 and 109.

Sky’s commercial director Rob Webster said: “Sky is unveiling details of its new EPG channel line-up, in what amounts to one of the biggest updates to the Sky channel listings in over a decade.

“Although, on paper, it may not seem the most exciting of subjects, in reality the EPG plays a really important role in the Sky customer experience – a place where there are around 100 million customer interactions with Sky on a daily basis.

“An intuitive and easy-to-use EPG makes a significant – and often overlooked – contribution in helping viewers get the most out of their Sky subscription.”
