The second episode of this year’s I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! has already begun to see tempers flare in the camp, with the sophomore instalment of the prime time bollock-eating competition bringing a day on day fall of -14%.

Despite this, the first proper episode of the fifteenth series was well ahead of its 9pm competitors, with the ever popular format already proving to be another seasonal hit for ITV.

On Sunday, 9.6 million viewers watched as the campmates arrived to the al fresco version of the Big Brother House, with a few impromptu skydiving sessions and some settling-in drama helping secure its impressive début audience.

Last night finally brought a full on clash between Tony Hadley and Lady Colin Campbell to British TV screens, with the ensuing fall out seeing the posh old doll with the boy’s name go a little mental as the conditions and overwhelming case of paranoia got the better of her.

Monday night’s hour-long jungle escape secured an impressive 8.2 million viewers, a 35% share and topped the TV Twitter chart, bringing great news for ITV and signalling that the winter silly season is well and truly upon us.

Much less exciting was BBC One’s sobering prime time offering, Crimewatch (9pm). 2.6 million viewers tuned in to see Kirsty Young scare the bejesus out of middle England with the latest reenactments and updates, resulting in an 11% share.

There were security issues of a very different kind over on BBC Two, with the second episode of wrong place, wrong time, wrong man drama London Spy (9pm).

The tense thriller stars Paddington/Bond’s Q, Ben Whishaw, as a normal everyday bloke who falls for a spy, only to be framed for his death and leading to a tangled web of intrigue etc, etc.

Last week’s antics in romantic espionage attracted the attention of 2.5 million viewers, with yesterday seeing Whishaw’s Danny look into the late spy’s family life, resulting in a massive -31% fall.

A total of 1.7 million viewers tuned in to see the twisty tale continue, resulting in a 7% share.

On Channel 4, it was the fifth and final episode of broody blokey workout SAS: Who Dares Wins (9pm), with the heavily sensationalised gym session seeing just five of the original 30 contestants still standing.

Attempting to convince viewers, and themselves, that they’re involved in a super serious and secretive SAS recruitment process (and not just a TV show), the grand finale saw just two men survive the intense bout of sleep deprivation and time disorientation exercises.

Opening up with 1.7 million viewers at the tail-end of October, last night’s inner fight to the very end secured 1.1 million viewers and a 5% share for Channel 4.

Over on Channel 5, it was time for viewers to pull out their scalpel and climb aboard the dissection table for the latest episode of Autopsy: The Last Hours of… (9pm), featuring the late booze hound George Best as this week’s ‘star’.

An audience of 732,000 viewers tuned in for all the highly exhaustive details surrounding the legendary footballer’s death, with the horror show resulting in a 3% share.

At 8pm, Dispatches: Britain’s Nightmare New Homes (Channel 4) highlighted yet more issues with the housing crisis, resulting in 1.2 million viewers and a 5% share, while the I Can’t Believe It’s Not Countryfile goodness of ITV’s Countrywise (8pm) brought in 2.9 million viewers and a 13% share.

As usual, events in soap land dominated Monday’s proceedings (excluding ITV’s mega jungle hit, naturally) with Emmerdale getting things under way at 7pm.

6 million viewers and a 30% share tuned in for the latest helping of dodgy country folk while the dodgy city folk of EastEnders brought in 6.5 million viewers and a 29% share to BBC One at 8pm,

Beating both of them was a double helping of Coronation Street (ITV), with the 7:30pm showing securing 7.2 million and a 33% share while 6.8 million viewers and a 30% share returned for more Weatherfield drama at 8:30pm.
