New Nation, a magazine for the black community, has been bought by Southnews.
Southnews owns 35 papers in London and the South East and is thought to have paid £1m for the title. The company says that it envisages New Nation running as “stable-mates” with their other ethnic titles such as The Caribbean Times and the Asian Times, as part of their Ethnic Media Group. Despite this the magazine will have its own editor and image.
The first issue to be published under new ownership will be released next Monday and will provide competition for the largest-selling paper in the ethnic market – The Voice.
