Southnews To Concentrate On London And Home Counties

Southnews has said that, following its takeover of United Southern Publications (see today’s UNM Sells Regional Titles To Southnews), it now intends to focus its attentions on the London and Home Counties markets.

A statement from Southnews said: “The Southnews Board’s strategy is to focus on the geographic markets of London and the Home Counties and to consolidate its strong position in key locations within this region. USP’s titles have extensive coverage across a large part of the South East and Greater London, with particularly strong coverage in the areas adjoining the M25 and Heathrow airport.”

USP, which last year had a turnover of £25.42 million, publishes 28 free weekly titles which have a combined weekly distribution of approximately 1.4 million copies. Southnews expects the acquisition to be “earnings enhancing” in the first full year of ownership.
