Spending Review For DCMS
The Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) has begun a fundamental review of all aspects of its expenditure, along with all other Government Departments, to ensure that taxpayers’ money is “being spent effectively and to fulfil manifesto commitments.”
Departmental reviews will feed into the Comprehensive Spending Review announced by the Chief Secretary on 11 June which will influence the new set of public expenditure plans to run from 1999-2000. Existing departmental spending ceilings for 1997-98 and 1998-99 have already been confirmed, though inherited spending plans will be undergoing examination to bring them into line with the Government’s priorities.
