Sport First Launches Major Ad Campaign

Sport First yesterday launched a £250,000 three-month promotional campaign during which the Sunday sports paper hopes to expand on the recent growth in its circulation figures.

The main focus of the campaign will be on radio, with two national and twenty regional commercial stations taking part. Other media and trade promotional advertising is also planned.

Managing director of Sport First Neil Webster said: “The first half of 1999 saw tremendous improvements in Sport First’s circulation – achieving our highest ever ABC figure of over 100,000. This media activity is aimed at further developing our circulation and consolidating our position as a major sports brand. We have a number of exciting media initiatives planned throughout the year – which is one of the best ever for sport.”

The paper recently created new partnerships with the Big Issue and the Mail Newspapers Circulation Department, to increase circulation and distribution (see Sport First Creates New Distribution Partnerships).
