Sports Digest – First Issue Review

Sports Digest – First Issue Review

Yesterday Sports Digest Ltd launched their new monthly, Sports Digest.

The glossy A4 size title has a cover price of £1.95 and pagination of 130. The first issue comes with a 24 page supplement on Sporting Legends. The editorial is written by top sports writers from the national press who will contribute articles on a regular basis.

The title will not carry news, but instead the features will concentrate on controversial topics, or opinions of the writers on topical issues. This month’s articles include an analysis of nationalism in sport, a review of the year’s cricket, and Europe’s chances in the Ryder Cup. There is also a 24 page section in association with Sky Sports, featuring the events to be covered by the channel.

The magazine makes much of the fact it has contributions from respected journalists and is very much a digest; the content is detailed and is a series of long articles. 30% of the magazine is given over to advertising, not including the Sky section. Brand names include Mobil, Red Stripe, Corona, Drakkar Noir and General Accident.

International Publishing’s Transworld Sport launches on Tuesday and will be reviewed on MediaTel next week.
