Spotify has launched a mobile version of its music streaming website, just days after getting approval from Apple’s App Store.
Premium subscribers will be able to download the mobile online music service for free from Apple’s App Store and the Android Market, a software application developed by search giant Google.
Spotify Mobile can stream music over WiFi or 3G and allows users to access their Spotify account and search for new songs. Consumers will also be able to play music on a plane or on the underground because it can be used without a connection.
The mobile version is currently only downloadable for premium subscribers, who pay a £9.99 monthly fee to access the on-demand music site. It is not yet known whether consumers who have signed-up for the free ad-supported version of Spotify will be able to access the service via their mobile handsets some time in the future.
Spotifty Mobile is available in the UK, Sweden, Norway, Finland, France and Spain from today.
