Staff Feel The Heat At Emap Metro
Emap Metro has made three redundancies from the editorial team of its weekly entertainment title Heat. Martin Asteon, its music editor, is to go, as is Lisa Andrews – one of its news reporters. Phil Brooke from the subbing team is also to leave the magazine.
Heat currently has a circulation of 65,000, but the publisher was hoping to reach sales of 100,000 when it launched the magazine near the beginning of the year. A spokesperson from Emap Metro told Newsline that the redundancies were partly a result of the less-than-expected sales, but that it would be implementing some editorial changes in an effort to spice up the title’s circulation.
In the meantime, the title’s deputy editor, Pete Picton, has been head-hunted by the British Airways magazine Highlife and will be leaving Heat at the beginning of August.
