Starbucks apologies to Twitter followers after social gaffe

Starbucks has apologised to its Irish Twitter followers after its “show us what makes you proud to be British” Jubilee promotion.

A tweet from @StarbucksIE said: “Happy hour is on! Show us what makes you proud to be British for a chance to win. Don’t forget to tag #MyFrappucino.”

The comment was heavily criticised by its followers, with one saying: “The ie stands for Ireland, awaiting an apology before I visit your stores again!!”.

The coffee chain has 17 stores in Ireland. Last year it made profits of €490,000.
