Strictly Come Dancing Gains More Adult Viewers Than X Factor

Strictly Come Dancing Strictly Come Dancing on BBC One gained more adult viewers on Saturday evening than The X Factor on ITV1, with 7.8 million on average compared to the singing contest’s six million.

The X Factor took a 31% audience share in the timeslot, whilst the celebrity ballroom dancing competition took a 40% share. Come Dancing‘s results programme, on after The X Factor‘s, also gained more viewers, with 7.3 million (33.7%) compared to 6.6 million (31.6%).

Casualty also performed well on Saturday for BBC One, being watched by an average of 5.8 million adult viewers, a 27% viewing share, whilst Afterlife and Parkinson performed solidly for ITV1. Afterlife was seen by 3.4 million (16%) whilst Parky took 3.2 million, a 17.8% viewing share between 10pm and 11pm.

The return of Attenborough series Planet Earth on BBC One on Sunday night proved no match for A Touch Of Frost on ITV1. The natural history programme was watched by 5.7 million adult viewers (24%), whilst the crime series starring David Jason gained nine million on average, a 40% share.

It was a strong night for ITV1, with Corrie taking 8.8 million adult viewers (41%) followed by Heartbeat, which was seen by 8.4 million (37%).
