Britain’s Got Talent stormed back onto the nation’s screens on Saturday night, with a strongman who pulled a car with his ear helping the show to pick up a peak audience of 11.4 million viewers for ITV1.
On for an hour and a half from 7.30pm, the show had a peak share of 49.2% of the entire TV audience, with an average of 44.5% sticking with the programme throughout its running time.
Another big hit on the night was the Doctor Who Easter special, Planet of the Dead, featuring ex-EastEnder and Bionic Woman, Michelle Ryan.
Although some critics were less than impressed with this latest instalment of the BBC1 sci-fi show, it still managed to gain a peak audience of 8.7 million viewers (a 40.6% share).
On for an hour from 6.30pm, it had an average audience of 8.4 million viewers, translating into a 39.6% share across the entire show.
On Sunday evening, the last in the series of Morse spin-off Lewis, on ITV1 at 8pm, had a peak of 6.3 million viewers, making it easily the most watched programme of the night, while the channel had another hit on its hands yesterday, with the return of Hell’s Kitchen.
The celebrity cooking show, hosted by chef Marco Pierre White, ran for an hour from 9pm and had a peak of 5.3 million viewers (a 21.9% share), with an average of five million tuning in for the entire show.
