Stronger Branding For Sponsorship Credits

Stronger Branding For Sponsorship Credits

Companies will now be able to include their slogans and logos on television sponsorship credits for the first time. The introduction of the Trade Mark Act on 31 October 1994 means that slogans and product shapes may be registered as part of a company’s trade mark, and this together with the relaxation of the ITC Sponsorship Code means that they can be included in broadcast sponsorship credits.

The ITV Network Centre hopes that television sponsorship will be given a boost by this; David Prosser of the ITV Sponsorship Committee said “There is now even greater scope for creativity and stronger branding.” The ITC has said, “The Commission has decided that in the special case of registered trade marks it would be excessively harsh to deny their use in credtis for this reason”
