STV Announces New Channel
Scottish Television has today confirmed rumours New Scottish Satellite Channel Rumoured and announced plans for a new channel, Sky Scottish, to be broadcast as a joint venture with BSkyB from November 1st.
The channel will initially operate on a two hour per day basis, focusing on news, sports and current affairs including 450 hours of original programming. STV believes this will provide more choice for local viewers and it will be the first opportunity for Scottish Television to be broadcast outside Scotland.
STV says that this as an exciting step forward into the world of cable and satellite, but is not expecting anything more than a minimal impact on 1996 results.
