Sugar – First Issue Review

Sugar, the new teenage girl’s magazine from Attic Futura, launches this week. The glossy monthly, which has a cover price of £1.30, has 100 pages stuffed full of photos, tips and features all aimed at teenage girls.

Editorial includes features on Keanu Reeves and Anna Friel (from Brookside), teenage pregnancies, how to look like a supermodel, short skirts v long skirts and how not to be a doormat. There are lots of letters/gossip/problem pages, as well as pages on fashion and beauty. There are guides to TV, film and music, including the guide to “Who’s bonking who this month?”.

The magazine claims it is “full of fresh and funky stuff”. It has a busy, young modern feel. Of the 100 pages, 11 carry display ads. Advertisers include Wella Shaders and Toners, Johnsons, Always and Dollond and Aitchinson.
