Sun Editor Wade Released After ‘Assault’ Arrest

Rebekah Wade Sun editor Rebekah Wade was released this afternoon without charge following her arrest in the early hours of this morning for allegedly assaulting her husband, Eastenders actor Ross Kemp.

Scotland Yard are understood to be planning no further action against the 37 year old editor, who was arrested in south London at 4am this morning.

The Sun has remained tight lipped over the incident, although a newspaper insider described staff as being “surprised” to see news of the event break on Sky News – also owned by Rupert Murdoch.

TV star Kemp is reported to have sustained a “thick lip” in the incident, but declined medical aid according to Scotland Yard.

Speculation in the media this afternoon suggests that senior management will stand by Wade in the wake of today’s events, with the Guardian reporting Murdoch and News International chief Les Hinton to be treating the matter as a strictly personal one.
