The Sunday Telegraph increased its cover-price at the weekend by 10p to 80p. Rival newspapers such as the Guardian and Times said that the move was due to the debts incurred as a result of the Telegraph’s subscription offers. It is said that while some new readers were attracted to the offer, a lot of loyal readers were also able to sign up to the cut-price subscriptions.
A spokesman at the Telegraph said that there were no plans to increase the price of the Daily Telegraph.
