Sunday Times Predicts TV Ad Recovery

Channel 5 will lead the TV industry in a revenue recovery, according to leaked figures reported in the Sunday Times this weekend.

The paper reported that year on year income for all television will be up 13.6% in May, 6.7% in June and 8.1% in July. The projections reported said that Channel 5 will have revenues of £21.5m in May, a 44% year on year increase giving it an 8% share of the market, while ITV is expected to be up 10% to £152m/

In July, Channel 5 is again expected to see a 44% increase in revenue, to £19m, while ITV revenue is expected to rise 2% year on year and Channel 4 revenue is expected to drop 1.1%. Cumulatively, estimates for the seven months to July put ITV down 5.4% and Channel 5 up 19%.

The Sunday Times did not state the source of the leaked estimates.
