Times Newspapers has agreed a media partnership with film channel Turner Classic Movies (TCM), for The Sunday Timesto sponsor TCM’s month long “28 Days of Oscar” hosted by Stephen Fry.The deal will see The Sunday Times giving away a free copy of awarding winning film Howards End in every copy of the paper on 9 February. The company will also get a sponsorship package comprising of a 45 second generic trailer, Stephen Fry specific tune-in trailers and a specific open, close and break bumpers, stating: “You’re watching 28 Days Oscar on TCM with The Sunday Times.”
The newspaper is running a series of promotions throughout February with TCM in its Culture supplement and in Vue Cinemas, offering readers tickets to screenings of the very best award winning films and the chance to win their own Oscars DVD collection.
The deal builds on TCM’s existing relationship with the newspaper, with previous collaborations including its promotion of The Times‘ popular Film First screenings last year (see The Times Signs Movie Promotion Deal With TCM).
Commenting on the lastest sponsorship, Andrew Mullins, marketing director for Times Newspapers said: “We worked successfully with TCM on our autumns season of Film First screenings for The Times and I’m pleased that the relationship is developing into a strong cross-promotional partnership for both our titles.”
