The UK’s largest Asian commercial radio station, Sunrise Radio, has today announced that Tony Lit is to become its new managing director.
Lit has over 18 years of media experience working across radio, TV and events. Based at Sunrise Radio’s Southall office Lit will work with chairman Gurdev Jassi, and will initially oversee the “fine tuning” of the station sound, strategy and revenue growth.
Lit joins Sunrise from Sony Entertainment TV Asia where he was vice president business head UK and Europe. During his time at Sony, Lit was responsible for the expansion of the network of channels distributed via TalkTalk and Virgin in the UK and across many other platforms in Europe.
“Radio is my first love and the opportunity to head the UK’s biggest Asian commercial radio brand was one I just couldn’t turn down,” said Lit.
“Sunrise Radio was launched in 1989, it was the World’s first 24 hour independent commercial Asian Radio station and over its 25 years of broadcasting it has consistently delivered the music and entertainment the Asian community wants to hear.”
According to the latest Rajar results, Sunrise Radio’s average weekly reach is 320,000 listeners.
“I welcome the challenge ahead,” Lit added. “I’m very excited to be taking Sunrise Radio forward to the next generation of radio broadcasting in terms of radio talent, technology and listening, while ensuring we continue to deliver the music and entertainment our audience love.”
