Big Brother‘s two ‘Live Eviction’ programmes were the big winners for Channel 4 on Friday night, with the second instalment of the show gaining an average of 5.1 million adult viewers for the broadcaster.
A surprise double eviction was sprung on the housemates, with the 8.30pm edition of the programme attracting a 24.5% audience share, or an average of 4.4 million adult viewers.
The programme’s main competition came from ITV1’s Taggart, which took almost 20% of the adult viewing share, and BBC One’s My Hero, which took a 19.5% audience share during BB.
Channel 4’s second episode of the Reality TV hit, on at 10pm, gained more than five million adult viewers, or a more than 28% viewing share. Nine of the evicted housemates will now be in the running to be voted back into the Big Brother house for the final week.
The current Middle East conflict bolstered audience figures for the BBC News at 10pm on BBC One, which managed a more than 20% viewing share, or 3.7 million adult viewers.
ITV1’s Love Island, which once again went head-to-head with BB, managed only a 7.5% adult audience share at 10pm, attracting just 1.3 million adult viewers. The 11pm instalment of the programme took a larger viewing share with 14.6% or an average of 1.6 million adult viewers.
