Survey Finds Internet Usage Grows
According to a new study from Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide, local television news remains the single most frequently used and most influential source of information for most Americans.
The survey conducted by NFO Research of Greenwich, Conn. finds that 84% of respondents watch local TV news at least once a day.
The survey finds that there has been an increase in web usage. Forty percent of Americans can access the internet at home or work. The number of respondents who consult the Web daily are twice as many as those who read magazines on a daily basis. Respondents said they got the most information each week from television, followed by newspapers, “talking to people,” radio and magazines. The Internet came in last place.
The survey also finds that if forced to choose only one source of information, women were more likely to choose TV over newspapers (56% to 40%), while men choose newspapers (37% to 26%).
Radio and national TV news came in next, with daily usage rates of 74%. Newspapers are consulted by 70% of the survey’s sample.
