Symposium To Tackle TV ‘Crisis’

Symposium To Tackle TV ‘Crisis’

The 1996 European Television Symposium, to be held in November in Prague, will focus on the development of commercial broadcasting in Central Europe and the difficulties facing the sector in Western Europe.

In particular the problem of developing ‘people meters’ which will effectively measure an ever more fragmented television audience will be discussed. The symposium will take a close look at the way Germany has coped with this problem over the last two years when it faced an explosion in television choice with the introduction digital broadcasting.

The question of effective frequency or the number of ads for a brand in a given time frame will also be addressed, in a bid to avoid the widespread growth of ‘clutter’ and media cost inflation.

The symposium will be held in Prague on 7th-8th November.
