T4 contract is awarded to Princess

Princess Productions has been awarded the multimillion pound contract for Channel 4’s youth strand T4.

The company, which makes Channel 4’s Sunday Night Live and Five’s The Wright Stuff, managed to fight off competition from Done & Dusted and Eyeworks UK in the final round of the tender process.

Eyeworks UK, formely known as At It, has been producing the T4 show for the past six years, while Done & Dusted produces T4’s outdoor events such as T4 on the beach.

The deal will see Princess retain T4’s current set and presenters, which include Steve Jones and Alexa Chung.

Channel 4 put the T4 contract out to tender in October, as part of its wider plan to cut programme budgets (see Channel 4 Puts T4 Contract Out To Tender).

The broadcaster announced plans to reduce spend by £50 million this year and a further £50 million from the broadcaster’s wider spend next year.
