Takeover Talk Causes YTTV To Soar

The passing of more relaxed cross-media ownership rules on Friday *New Media Ownership Rules Become Law has meant that the ITV company possibly most likely to be taken over, Yorkshire-Tyne Tees TV, has reached a record 52-week high today of £13.15 (at 3pm).

Granada is the most likely bidder, since it has increased its share in the company from 20% to 27% this year and the acquisition of the company, encompassing the Channel 3 North East (Tyne-Tees) and Yorkshire regions, would create a large contiguous area under its control. Another reason for the recent surge however is City talk that Carlton is looking at the company.
