Talk Appoints New Editor To ‘Jazz Up’ News

The latest development at Talk Radio, recently acquired by Kelvin MacKenzie’s TalkCo consortium (see Newsline), is the appointment of Tom Petrie, who used to work on The Sun with MacKenzie, as news editor.

Other ex-Sun staff who are now at Talk Radio include Mike Parry and Stuart Higgins.

Petrie will be forward planning across all programmes, and its hoped he will help to ‘jazz up’ the news content. A spokesperson for Talk Radio told Newsline this afternoon: “Tom’s got a wealth of experience in news which he is using to the full at Talk Radio. He’ll be instrumental in bringing quality guests to Talk whom our listeners want to talk to.”

Following the takeover of Talk Radio, the station lost some of its original staff, including Kirsty Young (see Newsline) and managing director Paul Robinson (see Newsline).
