Talk Radio And Channel 4 In Sponsorship Deals

Talk Radio UK has announced a sponsorship deal with the car manufacturer Daewoo for a breakfast show competition, and Channel 4’s new basketball series will be sponsored by Sprite.

The competition launched by Talk Radio, The Daewoo Raconteur of the Year, will start on 1st February on the Breakfast With Bates show. Listeners will have to record their favourite anecdote or story and the winner will receive a new Daewoo car, a trophy and a speaking contract for 25 lunches worth up to £50,000. The promotion will help the Lions Clubs of Great Britain in their appeal to raise funds for children in Bosnia.

The Channel 4 and Sprite deal, rumoured to be worth around £6 million, will support Channel 4’s coverage of the US National Basketball Association competition for the next three years. The sponsorship is launched next week with the first of three new NBA series – NBA 24/7, a sports and lifestyle magazine. It also covers two other shows – NBA Raw and XXL, a late-night show.
