Talk Radio Boosts Sales Team
Talk Radio has added three members to its sales team to help expand the business and to exploit opportunities created by the station’s increased focus on sports coverage.
Jason Trout joins as deputy sales director from TV3 where he is currently sales controller. Trout, who has also worked at BSkyB and Laser, will report directly to Talk’s sales director, Tim Bleakley. Capital Radio’s Tony Sweeney and Chrysalis Radio’s Rob Beange both join Talk as account directors.
Talk’s new schedule, fashioned by chief executive Kelvin MacKenzie, now broadcasts over 60 hours of sport each week. The station recently won the broadcast rights to England’s cricket tour in South Africa this year, ending BBC Radio 5’s exclusivity of the event (see Talk Radio Secures Exclusive Cricket Broadcast Rights). Talk says that revenues at the station have increased by 45% year on year for the first half of 1999.
