Talk Radio UK Launches

6am this morning saw the launch of Talk Radio UK, the third national commercial radio station. The speech-based station, broadcasting on 1053 and 1089 AM, has already altered its programming format. The original breakfast show has been swapped with the evening show, The Dish. In line with this the sex aspects of The Dish have been dropped; the evening show will now be The Rude Awakening, although it will be renamed.

From 10am to 1pm Scott Chisholm will present political news and debate; at 1pm Anna Raeburn will focus on life and emotional issues; from 3pm to 7pm Tommy Boyd’s show will offer infotainment; 7pm to 10pm is The Rude Awakening; from 10pm to 01am Caesar The Geezer will take the chair and from 1 to 6am Wild Al Kelly will provide off-the-wall humour and entertainment. Weekend schedules include Terry Christian from 7 to 10pm on Sunday and Jeremy Beadle from 10pm to 1am.

Talk Radio’s programming aim is ‘To provide a contemporary alternative to other national and regional speech stations and respite from music radio.” Advertisers this morning included Continental and DHL.
