Digital One has announced the launch of a ninth station on its digital radio platform, the first national digital multiplex in the UK. TalkMoney, a collaboration between Bloomberg and the Wireless Group (see Wireless Group And Bloomberg Unite In Business Radio Station Deal), began transmission on Friday.
The station will broadcast business programming 24 hours a day. Initially the content will consist of specifically re-versioned audio from Bloomberg television, but radio specific programming will increase over the coming months.
Digital One chief executive Quentin Howard said: “Digital radio allow new types of radio stations to broadcast where no such service can exist on analogue…the text and data capabilities are particularly relevant to this service and listeners can expect to see these features exploited on new digital radios.”
Digital One’s final radio station, a dedicated new service operated by ITN, will launch on 1 August. Today’s news comes as this month saw the price of digital radio sets fall to an all-time low of £299.
