talkSPORT Teams Telegraph With Financial Bulletins

National sports radio station talkSPORT has secured the Daily Telegraph as the sponsor of its financial bulletins, in one of the biggest deals in the station’s history.

The sponsorship will run from January 2003 to March 2004 and will see the Daily Telegraph sponsor all of the financial bulletins in the No-Nonsense Sports Breakfast with Mike Parry and Alan Brazil.

talkSPORT will also create a series of sports-related editorial features around the major UK sporting events that will support Daily Telegraph supplements and editorial. These features, which will be broadcast in both the breakfast and drivetime programmes, include the Six Nations Rugby tournament, the Grand National, Wimbledon tennis, the start of the Premiership, the Rugby World Cup and the British Grand Prix.

In addition to this, the Daily Telegraph will sponsor talkSPORT’s coverage of The Open golf championship next July.

As part of the deal all activity will be supported, featured and inter-linked on the station’s website, www.talksport.net.

Adam Roland, head of sponsorship and promotions for talkSPORT, said: “We are delighted that The Daily Telegraph realises the potential of talkSPORT and our ability to communicate with young, male, upmarket sports fans – exactly the audience they want to target.”

According to the latest RAJAR data for the third quarter of 2002, talkSPORT has seen its weekly reach increase by 7.6% year on year to 2,392,000, up from 2,224,000 in the same period the previous year.
