Taxi Media Spreads Marmite Over London

Taxi Media has secured a six-month deal with Unilever Bestfoods UK to promote its Marmite brand throughout London.

The campaign, which was bought by Blade and planned by Concord, will run from 2 February to coincide with the Marmite’s 100th birthday. 33 fully liveried taxis will carry pictures of the Marmite jar along with the slogan “100 years of hate” running down side of the cab and “100 years of Love” on the other side.

Marmite’s brand manger, Oliver Bradley, said: “As a communications tool nothing suits Marmite’s personality better than taxis. London taxis enabled us to do what few other mediums could, the iconic black taxi is a much loved institution of our city, similarly Londoners have an incredible fondness for Marmite.”

According to a recent report from outdoor buying agency Blade, taxi advertising experienced “modest growth” during 2001, despite the outdoor industry as a whole seeing revenue decline by 2.5% to £670m (see Taxi Media Moves Into Modern Art). Taxi Media’s sales director, Lloyd Keisner is confident that the medium will see a “small amount of growth” during 2002 (see Taxi Media Appoints New Group Sales Manager).
