Telegraph In Dispute With Times

The Telegraph group has submitted a complaint to the Audit Bureau of Circulations, ABC, over the 10p Monday edition of the Times .

The Telegraph claim that ABC should not classify the cut-price edition of The Times as a sale as there is no financial gain for the paper from the Monday editions. The news-vendors who sell the paper still get their usual 10p return from each sale. The Telegraph Group claim that this does not constitute a sale by ABC rules and has requested that ABC adjusts its circulation figures accordingly.

The Telegraph also claimed that the 10p scheme is a long-term marketing ploy to increase sales. The Times originally described the scheme as a Summer marketing promotion.

This is the latest in a series of circulation disputes between The Telegraph Group and The Times.*Times Threatens ABC With Legal Action
