Telegraph Launches Microsoft Promotion

The Daily Telegraph has secured a deal with Microsoft, which will see the paper promote the group’s new computer package over Christmas and the New Year.

Three Microsoft-sponsored 16-page tabloid supplements will run in The Daily Telegraph on Saturdays in the run up to Christmas. The first will be an advertorial and the second two will be a mixture of display advertising and editorial.

The campaign was won after a pitch organised by Univeral McCann and will feature the strapline “Amazing PC”, which is being used to promote Microsoft’s new XP software. There will also be a competition will each include a competition offering readers the opportunity to win one of three “Amazing PC” computers and software.

Nick McGrath, Microsoft’s group marketing manager, commented: “Our aim is to educate and excite customers across the UK. Working with The Daily Telegraph will enable us to target existing customers with exciting upgrades and also target new customers who are considering purchasing a computer for use in the home.”

Last month the Daily Telegraph secured a deal with Marks & Spencer’s, which featured advertorial and back-cover ads, which aimed to give the impression it had ‘taken over’ the Saturday Telegraph magazine (see Daily Telegraph Secures M & S Christmas Promotion)
