Telegraph Secures 3 To Sponsor Premiership Preview

The Sunday Telegraph has secured mobile phone service operator, 3, to sponsor its special Premiership football supplement.

The 36-page supplement, which will be published later this month to coincide with the start of the new football season, will feature a range of commentary and analysis including Gary Lineker’s view on the future prospects of every Premiership side.

The title also includes an interview with Sir Bobby Robson and a column by Graeme Le Saux about Gianfranco Zola, who recently returned to Italy to end his career.

As part of the agreement the mobile phone group will also sponsor a special Premiership supplement in The Daily Telegraph on Saturday 16 August. The sponsorship deal was negotiated by James Mann, strategic planner at Telegraph Group.

The supplement will be supported by a 30-second television advertisement created by Clemmow Hornby Inge, which will air from 8 to 9 August on ITV, Channel 4 and Five.

The Daily Telegraph recently revealed plans to sponsor the Rip Curl Boardmasters surf and skate festival in Newquay, as part of its efforts to appeal to a younger readership (see Surf’s Up As Daily Telegraph Targets Younger Readers). The latest ABC results for the six months to June 2003 show that the Daily Telegraph has seen circulation decline by 7.7% year on year to 927,672.
