Telegraph Teams With talkSPORT For Premiership Promotion

The Daily Telegraph is to raise awareness of its special Premiership Preview supplement with a week of promotional activity on sports-based speech radio station, talkSPORT.

The new supplement is one of a number of Premiership based initiatives at the Telegraph, which will launch a number of special features to mark the start of the new football season. All of the supplements will be sponsored by mobile service operator 3 (see Telegraph Secures 3 To Sponsor Premiership Preview).

The Premiership Preview supplement will include Alan Hansen’s predictions for the season, as well as a club-by-club guide to the forthcoming action. As well as the planned radio activity, the supplement will be supported by point of sale promotion including posters at selected newsagents.

Commenting on the new initiative, Mark Dixon, marketing director at Telegraph Group, said: “Our readers are keen football fans and will be eagerly anticipating the season’s kick-off. This supplement provides an excellent preview of the forthcoming Premiership season and reinforces The Daily Telegraph‘s commitment to superior sports coverage.”

The Daily Telegraph recently sponsored the Rip Curl Boardmasters surf and skate festival in Newquay, as part of its efforts to appeal to a younger readership (see Surf’s Up As Daily Telegraph Targets Younger Readers).

The latest ABC results for the six months to June 2003 show that the Daily Telegraph has seen circulation decline by 7.7% year on year to 927,672.
