Telegraph/Independent Price Promotions
The Daily Telegraph and Independent have entered into the price war initiated by News International, when it slashed the cover price of The Times to 30p. The Telegraph is handing out coupon books, which entitle readers to a half-price copy of the paper for 2 weeks, and the Independent is offering readers their money back if they are not satisfied with the new 2 section newspaper.
The Mail on Sunday’s deputy circulation manager, Brian Thomson, told MediaTel that the paper sold an extra 110,000 copies on October 10, when it launched its new Night & Day section.
