Teletext Anger At Government
Teletext – the text based information service for ITV and Channel 4 has expressed anger and frustration at the recently published Government proposals on the future of digital broadcasting.
The Government has told the BBC that provision must be made for its own teletext service – Ceefax – but no specific mention is made of Teletext, a stand-alone company. The Government’s proposals stipulate that no more than 10% of any frequency channel should be reserved exclusively for additional services.
The result of the Government’s proposals could lead to Teletext having to negotiate its own digital capacity from multiplex owners or use channels reserved for ITV and Channel 4.
