Television Takeover Rumours Continue

Expectations of a round of takeovers and demergers in the television market once the Broadcasting Bill goes through are causing soaring prices in stocks. Once the bill goes through, maybe in the Summer, television companies will no longer be restricted by numbers of licences held, but a limit of 15% of total television audience.

Those companies tipped for takeover are:

HTV Yorkshire Tyne Tees STV Border Grampian Ulster

Carlton and STV are both believed to be interested in HTV. Flextech and Mirror Group are expected to be interested in STV, and Granada is believed to be interested in Border. However, analysts differ in the eventual outcome as so many permutations are possible.
