Telewest Broadband Marketing Chief Steps Down
![]()
Telewest Broadband’s head of marketing for interactive services, David Caswell, has stepped down following a further round of restructuring at the troubled cable group.
The latest restructure comes less than two months after the appointment of Charles Burdick as managing director following the departure of Adam Singer, who was reportedly forced to resign by the company’s non-executive directors (see Telewest Chief Executive Removed In ‘Boardroom Coup’).
The restructure also sees commercial director of the consumer division, Gavin Patterson, take up the role of managing director, and sales and marketing director, David Hobday, promoted to the position of deputy managing director for that division. John Petter remains as marketing director for the consumer division reporting to Hobday.
Mark Luiz, who was made chief operating officer of the business and consumer divisions by Singer in May, has been appointed group finance director.
Telewest is currently on the brink of refinancing its £5.3 billion debt burden, in a move which is understood to be all but essential if the company is to survive. Rival cable group, NTL, is already in the process of a similar restructure which will allow its debt to be written off.
