Telewest Cuts Marketing Jobs

Telewest Broadband has cut around ten marketing jobs as part of the 1500 job reductions it announced earlier this month.

The company’s director of marketing communications Chris Fry and head of brand Geoff Linsell are among the departures, although they are thought have left voluntarily. Linsell and Fry were key figures in the creation of the Telewest Broadband brand, which was unveiled last summer (see Telewest Announces Rebrand). They will not be replaced.

A spokesperson for Telewest said: “We have been orchestrating changes throughout the company on a nation-wide level. The branding of Telewest Broadband is now complete and as such the number of marketing positions has been reduced.”

As a result of the departures, sales and marketing director David Hobday will take on more responsibility and will now oversee an annual adspend of around �9m.
